POINT 1 - TESTING US

Genesis 22:1-5

1 Peter 1:6-9 ESV

6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

POINT 2 - PROVIDE FOR US Genesis 22:6-14

2 Truths about idolatry:

- Idolatry will rob our faith

- Idolatry stops us from seeing God's provision (You can't see how God is providing for you when you have an idol in your life)

POINT 3 - GOD BLESSES Genesis 22:15-19

This is an example of Jesus sacrifice...

- Abraham is the Father and Isaac is the Son

- Verse 2 "your only son, whom you love"

- Both go up a mountain

- Isaac and Jesus both carry the instruments of sacrifice

- Father is doing the killing
